April is a great time for your social media ideas to spring to life! (See what I did there?) This month is full of bookish themes, so plan ahead and get your posts ready!
5 Social Media Ideas for Authors
1. April- School Library Month: You can show school libraries some love all month long! Give a shoutout to the schools (and school librarians!) in your community, donate some signed copies, or share photos from recent author readings. It’s a great way to celebrate #schoollibrarymonth
2. April 2nd- International Children’s Book Day: Take a moment to celebrate some of your favorite children’s books from around the world! This is also a perfect time to highlight the international reach of your own books! Have you shipped your books overseas? Tell us some of the countries where readers are enjoying your stories.
3. April 12th- Drop Everything and Read Day (DEAR): Sometimes I like to get a little silly on social media. DEAR is a great time to post some funny photos of you dropping everything you are doing to read! Follow #DEAR to see what other authors are doing!
4. April 23rd- World Book Day: Possibly the best day ever?? Share your “Must Read” list with your followers of your all-time favorite books (or just the best books you’ve read this year). And, as usual, this is an opportunity to promote your books, too.
5. April 27th- Indie Bookstore Day: Tell your readers where they can #shoplocal to find copies of your books! Share photos of your favorite local bookstores and thank them for supporting indie authors.
Whatever you decide to post on social media this month, just be sure to mix it up! Tell us about your life as an author, post a sneak peek at some illustrations, or lift up some of your favorite writers. Remember, social media is supposed to be fun :)
